Mitra Jashni

Artist · Curator · Art Scholar

Biography

Mitra Jashni is an artist, curator, and art scholar holding advanced degrees in painting and art history, alongside academic training in Modern Middle Eastern Studies.

Over more than two decades of international practice, her work has been exhibited in galleries and institutions across Iran, Ecuador, Peru, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy. She works across painting, sculpture, video art, and installation, with a particular focus on intercultural collaboration and site-responsive projects. Her practice has brought her into dialogue with artists from the Netherlands, Ecuador, and Syria, addressing themes of migration, identity, memory, and the female experience.

Alongside her artistic work, Jashni has an extensive background in cultural project coordination — including international painting symposia, large-scale group exhibitions across Europe, and art projects with refugee communities. Her cultural and social engagement has consistently been grounded in a commitment to freedom, justice, and human dignity.
